A few Sundays ago, we welcomed our college students back to CrossWay and Mission 28 since school is back in session. To follow this up, we thought you would enjoy hearing from two new Mission 28 interns about their experience so far this school year. We interviewed them with three questions. Check it out…
FROM TYLER LEVAN
1. WHY did you decide to be a Mission 28 intern? HOW did this decision come about?
I had been thinking about the internship for a few months. I really didn’t know how people applied or “got nominated” being a new guy. So I had decided go a different direction for the fall. However, when Mike Seaver asked if I had considered the internship, I really began to pray and consider it. It was no contest. The Lord began to grip my heart to do it. Being on campus and sharing the Gospel with college students is quite the job in my book.
2. What has been the most SIGNIFICANT thing God has done, in yours or other’s lives, since being an intern?
The most significant thing that God has done in my heart is in evangelism. To grow in my understanding of God making his gospel appeal through me has been life changing (2 Cor. 5). It has brought faith, humility, expectancy and excitement in evangelism.
Out of this, others have been impacted. I have had a couple of opportunities to share the gospel at length with students on campus. I have yet to see them put their faith in Christ but while sharing, it’s as if you can see God stirring their heart. I believe that several of the students we’ve met with in this first month will become sons and daughters of the King some day.
3. What is the FUNNIEST thing that has happened to you since being an intern?
When several college guys grew mustaches for Kendra Sand’s birthday. It was funny…in kind of a sick way!
FROM CHARLOTTE DIXON
1. WHY did you decide to be a Mission 28 intern? HOW did this decision come about?
This spring, the Lord started shaking up my being settled as a church secretary and got me thinking perhaps He had something else for me. At first, I thought the Lord was calling me to the GAP internship in Wales, but He quickly revealed that this was not His plan for me after all. Instead, He began to give me a fresh excitement for CrossWay and Mission 28, including the desire to do the M28 internship. He also gave me a faith that even though the internship would stretch me in many ways, that if I got the position, that He would provide the needed strength and grace. And He has.
The Lord has been very faithful to reveal sin in my life from the first day…things like pride, selfishness and laziness in being part of a team of interns. I somewhat expected this, but I was still surprised when it started to pop up. I believe this is one of the big reasons the Lord had me give up my secretarial job that had become pretty comfortable. I am so thankful the He is already being faithful to stretch and grow me through this experience. He has definitely filled me with faith and joy to see how he is going to continue to grow me and be faithful to kill my sin at its root by His gracious hand.
