Proverbs 25:11 A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver
At our family meeting last Friday night we talked about what to do when the headlines scream bad news. I thought it would be wise to repeat some of that for today’s “words fitly spoken.”
We can believe that God is sovereign over all things yet still be troubled by circumstances when we become fixated on having the why and how questions answered. God I know you are sovereign but why are you doing this? God I know you are sovereign but how is this going to work for my good? While it is not wrong to ask these questions we must realize that God doesn’t always (often?) give us the answers. When circumstances arise with no answers to why and how we must still rest in and submit to the truth that God in his perfect wisdom and perfect goodness has brought these circumstances into our life for our ultimate good and for his glory. And therein is our ultimate peace. So remember these words fitly spoken…
