Weekend Wrap Up

By Chelsey Miracle

Easter. It’s a time to reach out, reflect, and celebrate. We did a little bit of each this weekend!

Friday night, CrossWay held a special service to reflect on Christ’s death on the cross. We spent the evening meditating on scripture and singing songs that put an emphasis on the severity of our sin and the price He paid for us. Nick Swan read an incredible message entitled ‘A Crucifixion Narrative’ by Rick Gamache. It was intense and sobering to listen as the words painted a beautiful and painful picture of what Christ endured on our behalf. We meditated and departed in silence…a moment of solemn acknowledgement and gratefulness lifted up in unity. The service left a lasting impression on all who attended.

Saturday, we hosted our annual Easter Egg Hunt Outreach event. It was a beautiful, sunny morning perfect for outdoor fun. Workers arrived at 8am to prepare for the event, working diligently to get everything set up and ready for the kids. We had a great turnout that included many new faces as well as several familiar ones. It was great to see the kids running around playing games, getting their faces painted and winning prizes. The hunt itself went off without a hitch…6000 Easter Eggs were found and gathered as the kids ran squealing happily around the field. We had a great time talking to people and making connections. This event couldn’t have gone any better. Thanks to all who came out both to help and to participate! Can’t wait until next year!

Sunday morning was a wonderful time to celebrate Christ’s resurrection from the dead. We lifted a jubilant shout in worship proclaiming that ‘Yes, He is Alive! He is Risen!’ Larry Malament reminded us that Easter is not to be celebrated only once a year but we are to take joy in his resurrection every single day. We are alive because he lives! Remember Jesus Christ!

Hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend and we hope that you’ll join us again next Sunday!
